Once upon a time, in a dark hollow cave, a silly little bat decided that he's lonely, and decided to flap his wings for once, and leave the cave. While enjoying the temporary friendliness of the others he met in the outside world, he noticed a cute little girl sitting in the corner, observing yet pouting at everyone. Curious, the bat approached the girl and flapped his wings, circling around like an idiot around the girl, catching her attention. Now, the action was silly, but it was enough to make the girl smile a little, and acknowledged the existence of the bat. Delighted by the smile, the bat flew closer to the girl, and a bond was made. The little bat served the girl, entertaining her as she goes on with her life, and in return, the girl smiles and sometimes pet the bat's head.

Now as time pass by, the bat became more and more fond of the girl's smile, and do his best to see it everyday. Yet the seasons are cruel to the bat, and winter came to force the bat to go back to his cave, while the girl stayed in her house for warmth. After winter was over, with many incidents happening in it, the bat eagerly flew to the spot where he always met the girl, yet the girl was nowhere to be seen. Disappointed, the bat lived on with his life, yet sometimes he flew by the place, hoping to see even the shadow of the girl, for he has no other means to see her. One day, she did pass by the place, and the silly little bat flew over to her, doing what he always had done to get her to smile.

He thought that it'd still be the same as it once was, yet the girl had moved on, only smiling whenever the bat try to approach her, yet no longer paid attention to the bat as much as she once did. Maybe she thought the bat had his life too, for she had not know how much her smile meant for the bat. She passed the road very rarely now, and sometimes with other people, for she had not in her mind, the silly little bat that meant nothing more to her than entertainment.

The silly little bat, knowing how little he meant for her, yet still longing for that smile, still flew around the road frequently in hope to meet the girl, yet ignored even when the girl passed by. The bat now wonder, was it better if he had just stayed in his cave years ago, alone and safe, without the knowledge of the existence of such a pure smile, spared from the pain of not being able to see it anymore.
