Human's Emotional Attachment to Each Other

Le Awesome Starstruckers (well, some of them :P not all)
17 years of existing in this world, variates of humans to enter and exit my life. Some are bitter, some brought life to my darkness and some were hard to let go, even up till now. But for most people that I had encountered, I learnt to not have any attachments to most because I know that one day, they will leave my life. I was 10 years old when I heard of such phrase.

Pertemuan
Dan perpisahan
Adalah lumrah

After a hard phrase of my pre-teen life, I denied many existences from my life and cut many connections with people I should've appreciated. Yet why are these people I never meet in real life meant so much too me? Why had they opened up my heart so much and made me feel so comfortable being one of them?

As I had mentioned in my previous posts, I became part of a journalism program for teenagers called Starstruck for The Star's Monday pull-out, Stuff@School. After a whole year of epic awesomeness, I was chosen with 11 other Starstruckers to received the ultimate reward for our efforts ; a month-long internship at Menara Star itself!

Many things had I learnt from the month of experience and life trials. A kampung boy from Kelantan arrived in Kuala Lumpur and had to survive alone to work for The Star Publications and on 4th January 2013, I had ended the journey with memories that brought a smile on my face whenever recalled.

From Natashya Khoo's first word to me (Oh my God, you're Farid!), to Chiang Pang Fei and Tham Wee Nie's arrival to save me from being left alone in the office, to realizing that I don't actually recognize Jo-yen Wong's face and Wong Yen Ni's hyperness. It is fun to know how a complete stranger can become so close to eat Ghee Tosai (with sugar) together as distant cousins *ahem* Potato *ahem* and how active I can be when meeting with such awesome people that I even surprised myself! (Achievement unlocked = surprising yourself)

Here I make a tribute to the interns for making my end of the year a great memory. And I'm sorry for being well...me :P

P.S.

Cousin Potato = We still need to eat more ghee tosai with sugar
Wee Nie and Pang Pang = Thanks for allowing me to disturb you guys during work because I had no work ;D
Le Shea = Though being your cameraman wasn't fun, you amazed me.
Celine = You ah, not exactly as you appears to be.
Yen Ni = Yes, you are hyper (and you're awesome because of it)
Felix = Y U SO LUCKY? And sorry for all I've done to you
Jo-yen = I seriously think Sket Dance anime should continues *serious face*
Neda and Shareka = We aren't really close but you two are more mature than me! You guys sure you're younger than me???
Edmund = Bro, nice meeting you. keep in contact

And my awesome twin sister, nothing else to say that you don't know about. Arigatou~
Kelly Low Jia Li.
Known to me as Kyouyama Anna.

As Time Goes By.....(Final Part)

*ahem* sorry for the long pause, I blame the busyness in PC for this

Continuing on…..

And so I’d applied with a crappy 500-word essay about myself. Not expecting much, I returned back to my normal life minus the presence of that special, particular pullout.

School holiday, I got the result, I WAS LONGLISTED. That’s not all, I was the only Kelantanese who actually applied and one of the few Malay boys in the group. They made a virtual clubhouse for all the longlisted on Facebook and there I’d known so many talented, awesome writers nationwide.

Skipping on, since I have much time with me, I started participating more actively, commenting on School Sounds (now called Sync In Tune), got interviewed by last year’s Starstruck-ers (now interns at The Star) and pretty much bothers every single life in the group. My catchphrase in the chatbox? “Yep”, “*awkward silence*” and the infamous emoticon -__-“.

As time goes by, I’m nicknamed Vampire and starts getting annoyed by Nyan Cats, my spare soul got stolen by 9gag, being on the paper more often that I thought possible and other awesome stuffs. Always stay open-minded, I listen to rants, comments on quirky posts and have insanely wonderful conversation with less-than-normal humans *ahem*.

And there came the 2nd stage……

It’s simple enough, find at least 30 subscribers and write description about Stuff@School’s awesomeness. The problem is, my school already subscribes to the daily Star every year…..

Meeting the teachers seemingly everyday isn’t part of my “new year resolution lists” but that what I need to do to achieve her trust on giving me the responsibility of being in charge of the papers. Calling the rep isn’t actually an easy task. One day, I texted him asking for enquires and he replied that I need to talk to him. And so I called and what’s the reply? “Sorry, I’m in a meeting, I’ll call you later” in a thick, Indian accent. My reaction was memorable, “WHAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAT?????????” (of course I said that after I hanged up).

And after 20 days of eternal hell, I. Made. It. Seeing myself being published on the paper, getting new friends, starting to say Nyan randomly *ahem*, NOT SPARKLING, that’s what I’ve achieved. Netherless, being chosen as a teen writer is a wonderful experience too but the most important value that I had learned is The People itself.

So thanks to every one of you,
Ben = you rocks, too bad that you’re too busy nowadays.

Maam = I’m really sorry for bothering you non-stop for the past month -__-“

Shu Ern & Arreya = Sorry for overdosing those chill pills

Adrian = Every time an opportunity closed, another 10 will appears – if you try hard enough

Alya Hazira = Sis! Sorry!

Kaveeta = Lay of the shark thingy!

Ivan = Dark pasts doesn’t mean that the future is dark. It depends on yourself

Sis Syaza = Pessimism doesn’t lead to anything, just do it and hope for the best ;)

Grass Worm = Open your eyes to what you’re doing, and people will close their eyes on your wrong doing.

Shixin = Negative thoughts lead to stress, when in doubt, 9GAG!

Kelly = Y U NO HELP ME COSPLAY?

Shen & Ru Yin = Dudes! WHERE THE HELL ARE YOU?

Yuki-san = Kawai~ (don’t ask why I put it this way, I just did)

Patrick = Sorry for continuously interrupting your life with the chatbox :P

Clarissa = You’re one of the only one who can impress me with your English achievement. Must. Not. Lose.

Natashya and Celine = The ones who constantly cheer up the page with their normal ranting J

Apollonia = Where Are You?

Jesline and Vivien = Ahah, thanks for being my personal counselors girls ;)

Aifa & Adibah = Two Malay girls, two awesome Starstruckers

Viwern = Y U SILENT?

Amelia Wong = Stalker Chick! Stop freaking the life outta me! :P

Sayyid & Azirfan = The rare species of Malay boys who made it, congrats guys

Ashvin = Lay of the paranoia. Enjoy life and don’t overdo anything

2011 Starstruckers = Sorry guys for the weird questions and constant annoyance of us. I hope that I didn’t offended anyone, if I did, I’m sorry TT_TT

No, I can’t write all those awesome people in one post, netherless, you’re all awesome. Drop by a comment if you’re name isn’t here and you want it to be here (Maxlone, Inspector Saahab, Starstruckers only kay?)

Thanks!

As Time Goes By (Starstruck! Version)

One Wednesday on 2010, I stumbled upon a pullout called Stuff@School while reading The Star in class. Why does it appeal me? The only reason at that time was that it was about weird habits artists and students have. *ahem* Anyway, I didn’t manage to read them all due to the fact that the teacher came in and the paper never lasted until the end of the day (thanks to my savage classmates).

And so started the obsession over that particular pullout very Wednesday when I get the paper. Unknown to me, that pullout was actually written by people my own age from throughout Malaysia – that’s explain why the writing styles are so layoff compared to other part of the newspaper. Moving from KOPU to PC, I had forgotten about that pullout for awhile since I don’t have a clue on how to get the pullout. Thankfully, PC subscribes to The Star daily and so I reunited with my favorite pullout once again.

As time goes by, I had noticed that they have a particular slot for students to comment on topic offered using Facebook as the platform. Since I’m stuck in hell disguised as a boarding school, I can’t access the internet much as I pleased. The moment only happened when I was at home with my trusted servant – my laptop. Visiting the page for the first time, it just occurred to me that the writers are especially easy-going and they intended to inspired people to converse in English.

My first comment was simple enough and I wasn’t actually expecting it to be published on the paper.

It did.

Delighted by it, I had dedicated part of my Facebook time just to be part of this social page and interacting with other people in Malaysia who – unlike most people I had known in my life (most of them are Malay Kelantanese anyway) – are not afraid to use the English Language freely. I had entered competitions, reviewed songs and commented the Soapbox just for fun.

And so it lasted until the end of the year. As I’m expecting much for 2012’s Stuff@School, the last pullout caught my interest.

They’re searching for new writers for next year…….

(As much cliché this will sounds like, to be continue...)
